The Chaya Stillwater-Lanz Scholarship for SOU Art Student with Moxi
The Chaya Stillwater-Lanz Scholarship for SOU Art Student with Moxi was created by Chaya’s family and friends to honor her memory. Chaya passed away September 2016.
Chaya’s zeal for expression, connection, and experience was evident in her every waking hour. Silliness and irreverence sometimes masked a deeply passionate and focused drive to say something bigger than one person normally could. Churning out new explorations into different mediums, colors and theories on what art could and should be, she inspired many in her close knit community.
Born in a small log cabin in the California Sierras, Chaya grew up surrounded by the beauty of nature, in California as well as in southern Oregon. She attended Ashland schools, graduating in 1998. After which she attended a fashion design school in Seattle; then Portland Community College, earning her AA; and more recently Southern Oregon University, and had just one more term to complete for her bachelor of fine arts. Her experience at SOU was life changing and deeply rewarding.
The scholarship will be awarded to an SOU art student who embodies Chaya’s zest for life and art.
